Grandfather Teachings for Feburary

This month, we shift our focus to the teaching of respect. We talk about respect a lot in schools. But respect as a value begins with respecting ourselves - believing that we are worth growing, learning and taking care of ourselves.
In the seven grandfather teachings, the buffalo teaches us respect. The Cree and Ojibwe and other First Nations depended on the buffalo, and used every part of the animal for all the necessities of life. When we respect ourselves, make healthy choices, and set appropriate boundaries, we can live in good relationships with everyone and everything around us.
